Fluoride…a contaminant ..

Posted by: Stef605  /  Category: Health

Fluoride…and why you should avoid this contaminant ..
Yes a contaminant…
There is so much misinformation about Fluoride; you see it added to mouthwash and toothpaste. The huge companies promote it so why should you avoid it?
Fluoride is a byproduct of Aluminum smelting, these companies have to get rid of this contaminant so they sell it to other companies and water authorities to put into your water and toothpaste.
Fluoride is one of the toxic chemicals still at large in America. It was actually one of the toxic components evaluated for use in the production of the atomic bomb during World War II., water fluoridation is absurd and unethical because studies show that this chemical can damage your brain, and your immune, gastrointestinal system and skeletal systems. Fluoride is so dangerous that a family-sized tube of fluoridated toothpaste is toxic enough to kill a 25-lb child.
Fluoride is actually sodium fluoride. It is also used in rat and cockroach poisons and there are no antidotes. It is also an ingredient of Sarin nerve gas, the anti-depressant Prozac and other psychiatric drugs and anesthetics. Fluoride can increase bone dentistry but the drawback is it makes the bones brittle.

I’m hoping that you are enjoying my work and appreciate what it takes for me to do this, maintaining this blog is difficult enough for someone to do but so much harder when you have MS and are unemployed with no income.

Please read my story which is a page on this site explaining a little more about me and what I’ve been through, I really appreciate any help you can give, thanks/

The book to buy…

Posted by: Stef605  /  Category: Health

My book “Dentistry and how it’s damaging your health” is now available as an e-book.

I want to thank the thousands that have already bought it both here in the UK and back in the US.
I am very proud and honored to say that two extremely well qualified dentists, doctors of integrative medicine have written the forwards in the book.

Dr Blanche Grube and Dr John Rothchild have this to say:

According to a recent survey by the American Dental Association,
52% of dentists in America are no longer placing mercury amalgam fillings in
previously decayed teeth. The United
Nations is now preparing a worldwide treaty to ban the use of mercury in all
industrial, medical and dental manufactures.
That’s all good news but there are still thousands of mercury amalgam
fillings being placed everyday and millions of fillings still in the mouths of
people. If your mouth is one of the ones that still has black amalgam fillings
and you’re looking for the safest way to remove them, then this book is for

Stefan Cairns gleaned the absolutely essential teachings
of Dr. Hal Huggins and placed them in the hands of the everyday person. I say everyday person because most doctors
and scientists now know that mercury is incredibly toxic. In fact, Dentists are taught that it is to be
treated as a poison prior to
placing it into the mouth and treated as hazardous waste after placing it in the mouth. It never occurred to most dentists, me
included, that it would escape the “solid” filling and be doing harm to the
patient while in their mouths.

It wasn’t until Dr. Hal Huggins wrote his now famous book
“It’s All in Your Head” and the dental world was shaken that informed dentists
would seriously reconsider the use of amalgam.
If for some reason, you are not able to “sit at the masters’ feet” and
learn directly from Dr. Hal Huggins, then reading Stefan Cairns book is your
best choice.

Blanche D. Grube, DMD, DDS

I met Stefan about three and a half years ago at his very
first Alliance Meeting of Huggins trained dentists. He was a newbie. I had just given a presentation to the group
on Oxygen/Ozone therapy. He was full of
questions and enthusiasm. We sat
together at dinner that night. He asked
so many questions that evening about dentistry.
This guy, I thought, really wants to know this information about the
science of mercury fillings, root canals, infections and the immune system of
the human body. As a Huggins trained dentist and practicing now
for over 31 years, I have had many conversations with Stefan and witnessed the logarithmic learning he has
achieved. Stefan learned from 17,000
patients, their problems, their symptoms, their failures, and their

Stefan quickly became a leader and advisor in the Huggins
organization. Now, I may not agree with
Dr. Huggins’ method 100%, I feel that his protocols are some of the best in the
dental field for dental revisions and building up the immune system to achieve
a healthy body and mind. He has been
revered by many patients and dentists throughout the world. Stefan has followed Dr. Huggins obsessively
for those years, not only through shadowing him but also “walking the
talk”. He has gone through an extensive
dental revision and detox and has gained health and wellness, and experience
through it. God only knows what kind of
mess Stefan would be in physically and mentally if the forces had not brought
him to the Huggins Center.

Stefan is knowledgeable and experienced. You don’t work with that many people 24/7 and
not gain the ability to counsel patient’s affectively. This guy knows a lot! Trust him (as I do) with his knowledge and
let him lead you on a path of wellness!

It is an honor to write this forward for Stefan Cairns.

Vaccines: Get the Full Story…

Posted by: Stef605  /  Category: Health

Ever wonder why doctors can’t find the cause for many diseases? It’s because they are conditioned to ignore the relationship between illness and vaccines. These are some of the diseases that have documented associations with vaccines:
• Allergies and eczema
• Arthritis
• Asthma
• Autism
• Acid reflux requiring an infant to take proton pump inhibitors, which have many side effects
• Cancer
• Diabetes (infant and childhood)
• Kidney disease
• Miscarriages
• Long list of neurological and autoimmune diseases
• Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS)
• And many, many more
These are some known vaccine side effects, documented in medical literature and/or in package inserts:
• Arthritis, bleeding disorders, blood clots, heart attacks, sepsis
• Ear infections
• Fainting (with reports of broken bones)
• Kidney failure requiring dialysis
• Seizures/epilepsy
• Severe allergic reactions, such as hives and anaphylaxis
• Sudden death
• Many common diagnoses given for hospital admissions.
• The National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program, (NVICP) has awarded more than $1.2 billion in damages to children and adults injured by vaccines.
autism is associated with vaccines.
Autism was rare until the mass vaccination programs were accelerated in 1991, with the introduction of the hepatitis B vaccine and the HiB (meningitis) vaccine. Tens of thousands of parents will attest that autism appeared in their children very soon after they were given these, and other, vaccines.
• Study the information on the website www.fourteenstudies.org. You will find the studies denying the association between autism and vaccines to be highly questionable.
Drug companies, insurance companies and the medical system get rich when you get sick.
• Vaccines do not give life‐long immunity, which means booster shots are recommended.
• Each booster shot increases the risk of more side effects.
• Vaccine side effects can make you sick for the rest of your life. Conveniently, there are many drugs to treat the side effects caused by vaccines.
• In the U.S., neither drug companies nor doctors can be sued when something bad happens from a vaccination. Both are protected by the 1986 National Child Vaccine Injury Act. This law, signed into effect by then‐president Ronald Reagan decreed: “No vaccine manufacturer shall be liable in a civil action for damages arising from a vaccine‐related injury or death.” (Public Law 99‐660)
Many doctors and health‐care practitioners do not get vaccinated and do not vaccinate their children. Why not?
• They know vaccines are not proven to be safe or effective.
• They know vaccines contain dangerous substances.
They know vaccines cause serious health problems.
• They have treated patients with serious side effects from vaccines.
The only people who benefit from being healthy are you and those you care about.
• Drug companies have infiltrated and seized control over the entire healthcare system, including medical schools, medical journals, hospitals, clinics and the local pharmacy. A doctor’s very livelihood thus depends on blind faith, without questioning any aspect of any vaccination. Even when obvious evidence of vaccine damage occurs right before a doctor’s eyes, s/he is usually unwilling to consider a vaccine as the cause. Though uncorrupt science and medicine support rejection of vaccines, doing so can be considered professional career suicide. The signatories to this document boldly risk this end for the safety of you and your child.
• Hospitals benefit financially from hospitalizations and tests.Drug companies make billions of dollars from vaccines.
• Drug companies making of billions of dollars from drugs given to treat side effects and life‐time illnesses caused by vaccines.
• Vaccines are the backbone of the medical system. Without vaccines, healthcare costs would go down because we would have a healthier overall society. We have exchanged chicken pox for autism, flu for asthma, ear infections for diabetes. The list goes on and on. In the zeal to eliminate a short list of relatively benign microbes, we have traded temporary illnesses for pervasive, life‐long diseases, disorders, dysfunctions and disabilities.
How many vaccines are there?
• If U.S. children receive all doses of all vaccines, they are injected with up to 35 shots that contain 113 different kinds of disease particles, 59 different chemicals, four types of animal cells/DNA, human DNA from aborted fetal tissue and human albumin.
• If you think you don’t have to worry about vaccines because your children are older, think again. There are at least 20 more vaccines currently in the development pipeline for release in the next few years, mostly targeting adolescents and adults.
Some Vaccine Ingredients: How is it possible that vaccines will not be harmful to your health?
• Stray viruses and bacteria from the animal cell cultures that vaccines are made in.
• Mercury, a well‐documented neurotoxin, is still in the multi‐dose flu vaccines throughout the world. Trace amounts remain in several other vaccines.
• Aluminum, a poison that can cause bone, bone marrow and brain degeneration.
• Animal cells from monkeys, dog kidneys, chickens, cows, and humans.
• Formaldehyde (embalming fluid), a known carcinogen.
• Polysorbate 80, known to cause infertility in female mice and testicular atrophy in male mice.
• Gelatin, from pigs and cows, known to cause anaphylactic reactions, is found in large quantities in the MMR, chickenpox and shingles vaccines.
• Monosodium glutamate (MSG) in inhaled flu vaccines, is known to cause metabolic disturbances (e.g. diabetes), seizures and other neurologic disorders.
4 Conflicts of Interest
• The same people who make rules and recommendations about vaccination profit from vaccine sales. For example, Dr. Julie Gerberding, who was in charge of the CDC for eight years, is now the President of Merck Vaccines. Dr. Paul Offit, a member of the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practice(ACIP), developed and patented his own vaccine.
• According to the CDC, the average U.S. 10‐doctor pediatric group has over $100,000 of vaccine inventory in their office to sell. These doctors make money from office visits and from giving your children vaccines, and also from follow-up office visits for assessing reactions.
1. U.S. pediatricians reportedly make quarterly bonuses from the HMOs they work for by maintaining high vaccination rates in their practices and have reportedly been reprimanded by insurance companies if their vaccination rates fall.
Is there any research that shows the difference between vaccinated and unvaccinated children?
The Cal‐Oregon project sponsored by Generation Rescue surveyed parents of vaccinated vs. unvaccinated U.S. children. Of the 17,674 children included in the survey, the results showed:
1. Vaccinated children had 120% more asthma.
2. Vaccinated boys had 317% more ADHD.
3. Vaccinated boys had 185% more neurologic disorders.
4. Vaccinated boys had 146% more autism.
Girls represented only 20% of the total number of children in the survey. To read the full study for yourself, go to
www.generationrescue.org/pdf/survey.pdf. To read a report on the low incidence of autism among unvaccinated Amish children go to http://www.vaccinationcouncil.org/quick‐compare‐2. Vaccine Exemptions in the U.S.
• You do have the right to refuse. Use it.
• Your child does not have to be vaccinated to attend public school.
• Every state has exemptions giving you the right to refuse unwanted vaccines. http://exemptmychild.com/10752
• Find a healthcare provider who agrees with your choice to not vaccinate and will respect you at www.vaccinationcouncil.org/providers.pdf
Many choose health and safety by saying no to vaccines.
• Groups that generally do not vaccinate include holistic practitioners, chiropractor’s, parents who home school, and those who belong to certain religions.
• Thousands of testimonies written by parents of non‐vaccinated children about the state of their children’s robust health are available many places online.
• Vaccination decisions are between you and your spouse/partner.
No one else needs to know. It is not the business of your family members, your neighbors, or your in‐laws.
To have vibrant health, you will need to take the initiative to learn some new things.
The safe choice is to say
1. no to vaccines. You have control over health choices you make for yourself and your children. You have no control
2. over the outcome of a vaccination.
3. You do not need a pediatrician to simply weigh and measure your child and give shots. Consider a naturopathic doctor, a pediatric chiropractor, a doctor of oriental medicine, or a homeopathic doctor. You may find that family doctors of osteopathic medicine are more open
4. ‐minded about vaccine‐
5. free choices.
6. Babies are born with powerful, natural defenses. If this were not so, all would die shortly after birth. Enormous cascades of complex immune processes start with the first cry. This needs to occur naturally, without the interruption caused by the injections of toxic substances.
• Learn about the “vaccine preventable” diseases. Your children will never come in contact with most of them and if they do, nearly all healthy and unvaccinated children recover uneventfully, with long-term immunity. Health cannot come through a needle.
• Learn about the importance of fever, how to take care of it at home and when it is time to call the doctor. Most fevers resolve on their own, with care and support, in just a few hours. www.drtenpenny.com/fever.aspx
• Understand that your child can be vaccinated and still contract the illness you are wishing to prevent. Vaccines may not provide the protection that people assume they do. Health cannot come through a needle.
• Learn that the primary keys to health are good nutrition, pure water, adequate sleep, routine exercise and happiness.
• Learn some simple information about vitamins, especially the critically important information about vitamin D3. Learn how to use basic herbs and basic homeopathy for health and for addressing minor illnesses.
• Learn more than your doctor about vaccines. Your medical doctor has probably never read anything about vaccines except drug‐company and CDC‐sponsored publications that support their use.
• Know that healthcare is something you pay for; sick care is covered by insurance. Your insurance will pay for drugs and vaccines.
• Budget accordingly to stay healthy. Your life depends on it.

Why Did MS Drug Kill Eleven People?

Posted by: Stef605  /  Category: Health

I was diagnosed with MS in 2004 but I refused to take any medication for it and I was penalized by my health insurance company although they should be known as Sickness insurance not health.

Why did this happen, well  these organizations only make money when people are sick, they are all in cahoots with each other, you get sick so you see a doctor, who you trust. he then prescribes a drug, its long been known as medicine but it’s a drug promoted by the media on behalf of the pharmaceutical companies.

They all make money out of you being sick, and then the FDA who had previously sanctioned the sale of this drug tells you that it’s now unsafe. So the attorney’s promote their services to take legal action against the pharmaceutical giant who have set aside a few million dollars to pay out in compensation after they previously made billions through the sales of the drug.

I understand why people take their med’s, we all want to be healthy and live a nice life, it is so easy to allow are minds to fall into the trap of trusting these people. They are supposed to have our best interests at heart but that isn’t the case anymore.

The article by Dr. Joseph Mecola highlights one of the many drugs on the market that is likely to cause more harm than good, being an MS sufferer myself I know what it’s like to experience the symptoms of this so-called incurable and life threatening disease, I have addressed this problem naturally, no drugs period.

Most people would not know I have MS, true I have good days and bad but I understand what exacerbates the problem and try to avoid the foods that do this.

Read my story on this blog and learn more about how to beat MS.

By Dr. Mercola

When you take drugs for multiple sclerosis (MS), you may very well be trading MS for another set of health problems, including paying the ultimate price: death.

Health agencies from multiple countries, including the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the European Medicines Agency, are investigating reports of 11 deaths in multiple sclerosis patients who took the drug Gilenya.

Gilenya is the first oral drug approved by the FDA to reduce relapses and delay disability progression in patients with relapsing forms of MS.

But even though it is a relative newcomer to the market, having been approved in the United States in September 2010, serious side effects have already emerged.

You Have to Take the First Dose When You’re in a Doctor’s Office …

This is because Gilenya is known to cause heart-rate problems, so all patients must be monitored for slow heart rate for six hours after they first take the drug.

The drug’s maker, Novartis, told CNN that they are aware of the reported deaths among patients taking the drug, and stated the deaths were due to sudden death, heart attack or disruption of heart rhythm.

Of course, they also said the cause of the deaths remains “unknown.”

The FDA, who announced in December 2011 that they were investigating Gilenya after a 59-year-old multiple sclerosis patient died within 24 hours of taking the first dose, is aware of the heart effects, but approved the drug anyway. On their Web site, it’s stated:1

“Gilenya may cause serious side effects, such as slow heart rate (bradycardia), which may be related to slowed conduction of electrical impulses from the upper chambers of the heart to the lower chambers of the heart. These effects usually do not cause symptoms, but they can cause dizziness, fatigue, and palpitations.”

Other serious risks, as noted by the drug’s manufacturer Web site, include:

  • Increased risk of serious infections, as the drug lowers the number of white blood cells in your blood. Two patients died who took higher-dose Gilenya, which increases the risk of infection
  • Macular edema, a vision problem that can cause some of the same vision symptoms as an MS attack
  • Breathing problems
  • Liver problems and increases in blood pressure
  • Harm to a woman’s unborn baby, and therefore contraindicated during pregnancy or breastfeeding

Side effects are more the rule than the exception when it comes to MS drugs, but unfortunately they continue to be offered as a first-line treatment for those with MS, even though dietary strategies can be extremely effective.

Tysabri: Another MS Drug Linked to Deaths

Tysabri first hit the market in November 2004 under an accelerated program the FDA reserves for drugs it believes will have “extraordinary benefits” to patients. It was touted as the “miracle” drug for MS because the results from the first year of clinical trials showed that MS patients who took Tysabri for one year had a 66 percent reduction in relapses compared to those who took a placebo.

Then, just three months after it first hit the market it was pulled because one in 1,000 people who took it during clinical trials developed progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy (PML), a rare brain infection that usually results in death or severe disablement. As noted on the Tysabri Web site:

“Tysabri increases your chances of getting … PML … No one can predict who will get PML. There is no known treatment, prevention or cure for PML … Your chances may be higher if you are also being treated with medicines that weaken your immune system, including other MS treatments.”

Dr. Lawrence Steinman, a Stanford University professor and an MS specialist who has developed MS drugs himself, said he repeatedly warned the FDA of the potential for serious immune-system side effects with Tysabri and drugs like it prior to approval. Tysabri is a type of drug known as a monoclonal antibody, meaning it is derived from a mouse antibody that has been genetically engineered to mirror a human antibody (antibodies are proteins that help your body fight infection).

It is given by infusion directly into a vein, where the antibodies bind to immune system cells, inhibiting them from crossing over from the bloodstream to the brain.

Tysabri blocks this movement by attaching to alpha 4-integrin, a protein on the surface of immune T cells that normally enables them to pass through the blood-brain barrier. However, if destructive immune system cells break free of the bloodstream, they can reach your brain, gastrointestinal tract and joints and cause severe damage. Tysabri, however, is currently back on the market because in June 2006 the FDA voted that Tysabri be returned to the market!

In 2010 they then added a new label warning health care professionals and patients that the risks of PML increase as more infusions are received. There are other risks as well, including liver damage, an increased risk of serious or unusual infection, joint pain, allergic reactions, depression and more.  If you have MS, it is my strong recommendation to not accept this drug, Gilenya or the other commonly prescribed MS drugs like prednisone or interferon, as they can seriously harm your health.

Fresh Raw Foods are an Option for Helping Reverse MS

If you’ve been under the care of the conventional medical system for MS treatment, you may be surprised to hear that people have had success in reversing MS with dietary changes. You most likely will not hear this from conventional neurologists. Nonetheless, in the video above, Dr. Terry Wahls explains how she reversed multiple sclerosis after seven years of deterioration on the best conventional treatments available — simply by changing her diet!

She began to notice significant improvement in just three months, and at the nine-month mark of her new diet, she was able to go on an 18-mile bike ride! This is astounding when you consider that over the past seven years her condition had deteriorated to the point that she had to sit in a reclined zero-gravity chair and could only walk short distances using two canes.

After looking into a number of diseases that cause brain shrinkage, including not only MS but also Huntington’s, Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s disease, Dr. Wahls found one common denominator in these conditions is poorly functioning mitochondria. Three nutrients in particular are essential for proper mitochondrial function:

  1. Animal-based omega-3 fat
  2. Creatine
  3. Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10), or better yet, the reduced version known as Ubiquinol

Just by adding those three to her diet, her decline began to slow. But it wasn’t until she adjusted her diet for optimal mitochondrial-, myelin-, and neurotransmitter function that she began to improve. She also eliminated processed foods, grains, and starches (which includes potatoes and corn), and within a matter of months experienced astounding improvements. In short, she altered her diet to reflect the Paleo-style diet of the hunter-gatherers of old as follows:

  • 3 cups daily (equal to one dinner plate, piled high) of green leaves, such as kale, which are high in vitamins in the B group, A, C, K, and minerals
  • 3 cups daily of sulfur-rich vegetables from the cabbage- and onion- families, mushrooms and asparagus
  • 3 cups daily of brightly colored vegetables, fruits and/or berries, which are a good source of antioxidants
  • Wild fish for animal-based omega-3’s
  • Grass-fed meat
  • Organ meats for vitamins, minerals and CoQ10
  • Seaweed for iodine and selenium

Vital Information for Anyone Who’s Been Diagnosed With MS

I do encourage you to share this information with anyone you know struggling with MS, as it is could easily change their life. Risking your life with conventional MS drugs is NOT the only option, but most people are not aware of that. Dr. Wahls story is not an isolated incident; others, too, have recovered from multiple sclerosis without drugs!

Below you will find a summary of my lifestyle recommendations for MS. Many are identical to the general-health principles I’ve been teaching for years, but a few stand out as being specifically applicable to the treatment of autoimmune diseases such as MS.

  • Optimize your vitamin D levels – This is an essential step, as there are well over a dozen studies showing a link between MS and vitamin D deficiency. While the optimal level for general health lies between 50-70 ng/ml, when treating diseases such as cancer, heart disease, or autoimmune diseases, your level should ideally be somewhere between 70-100 ng/ml. The preferred method to raise (and maintain) your vitamin D levels is by regularly exposing large amounts of your skin to sunshine, or by using a safe tanning bed. If neither is available, you can use an oral supplement of vitamin D3.
As a general guideline, vitamin D experts recommend 8,000 IU’s per day for adults, and about 35 IU’s per pound for children, but you should take as much as is necessary to elevate and maintain your blood levels within the optimal range.
  • Get plenty of animal-based omega-3 fats – Make sure you’re getting a good supply of animal-based omega-3 fats, such as krill oil. You also need to avoid damaged, oxidized fats found in most all processed foods. Especially damaging are the omega-6 fats found in soy-, canola-, and corn oil. These are usually highly oxidized and also contain trans fats and cyclic fats that imbed themselves into your cell membranes, distorting the cellular functions.
Even when organic and cold-pressed, the over consumption of these omega-6 rich oils can ignite an inflammatory cascade within our bodies, as the American diet generally contains 20-40 times more omega-6 fatty acids (relative to omega-3 fatty acids) than our bodies are designed to handle; this omega-6/omega-3 imbalance results in the formation of excessive arachidonic acid – the very fuel upon which enzymes like Cox-2 feed, resulting in uncontrollable inflammation. Also, the majority of these three oils are genetically engineered, which can have its own set of adverse health ramifications.
  • Eliminate sugar, particularly fructose – Another crucial element is to eliminate as much sugar and fructose as possible from your diet. Cutting out processed foods and sweetened beverages will go a long way to reduce excess fructose, in addition to eliminating the majority of damaging fats in your diet. You simply must keep your daily total fructose intake below 25 grams.
If you haven’t yet grasped the toxic nature and profound health dangers of fructose, now’s the time to get with it. Sugar can contribute to the development of a number of autoimmune diseases, such as arthritis, asthma, and multiple sclerosis. It also increases uric acid levels, which leads to chronic, low-level inflammation, which has far-reaching consequences for your health.
  • Eliminate pasteurized milk and dairy—This is another critical element. Studies have shown that cow’s milk consumption is correlated with MS prevalence.2 In fact, a specific antibody cross-reactivity between myelin oligodendrocyte (a component of neurological tissue) and the cow’s milk protein butyrophillin was identified in 2004, likely contributing to the immune system of MS patients losing self-tolerance and attacking their own nervous system.3
  • Avoid aspartame and commercial fruit juices. Aspartame rapidly metabolizes to methanol, a potent neurotoxin. Additionally fruits and vegetables are also loaded with methanol but when they are consumed fresh it is bound to pectin and your body does not have the enzymes to break it down. However when fruits and vegetables are processed and put into glass jars or cans the methanol dissociates and can be liberated in high quantities.
  • Eat plenty of raw food. This is an important principle for optimal health that I normally recommend for everyone. However, I’ve found that for people with severe autoimmune disease, it’s even more important. Some of the most dramatic improvements we’ve seen in patients using nutritional changes have come about as the result of eating a majority of their food raw instead of cooked.
  • Eat fermented vegetables. Optimizing your gut bacteria may be one of the most profound ways to improve your health. In the near future I will be doing a large number of interviews with Dr. Natasha Campbell McBride that go into great detail on how to implement these valuable foods and many other details of recovery.
  • Check your iron levels. Excess iron can cause damage to the endothelium, the inner lining of blood vessels, as well as create massive amounts of free radicals. It can also damage your DNA. Therefore, if you have MS it is very important to check your blood for iron overload, a process that is easily done through a simple blood test called a serum ferritin test. The healthy range of serum ferritin lies between 20 and 80 ng/ml. Below 20, you are iron deficient, and above 80, you have an iron surplus. Ferritin levels can go really high. I’ve seen levels over 1,000, but anything over 80 is likely going to be a problem. The ideal range is between 40-60 ng/ml.
If you find that your iron levels are high, simply donate your blood. Normally a person would require 1-3 blood draws per year, up to as many as one per month if your system can tolerate it, until your ferritin levels have been sufficiently lowered.
  • Low-dose Naltrexone and alpha lipoic acid. One of the newer treatment strategies for MS is low-dose naltrexone (LDN), along with alpha lipoic acid. Naltrexone (generic name) is a pharmacologically active opioid antagonist, conventionally used to treat drug- and alcohol addiction – normally at doses of 50mg to 300mg. As such, it’s been an FDA-approved drug for over two decades.
However, at very low dosages (3 to 4.5 mg), naltrexone has immunomodulating properties that may be able to successfully treat cancer malignancies and a wide range of autoimmune diseases, including multiple sclerosis. As explained on the informative website www.lowdosenaltrexone.org, when you take LDN at bedtime — which blocks your opioid receptors for a few hours in the middle of the night — it is believed to up-regulate vital elements of your immune system by increasing your body’s production of metenkephalin and endorphins (your natural opioids), hence improving immune function.
  • Mercury detox. Mercury is clearly a neurotoxic poison that should be avoided, so avoiding fish unless wild caught and verified for purity, and refusing or removing mercury dental amalgams are also important aspects. Certain supplements can also help eliminate mercury from your system, such as chlorella.
  • Address early childhood emotional traumas. Last but certainly not least, in my experience with MS patients, there is nearly always a precipitating traumatic emotional event that causes your immune system to crash, leading to the disease. Just as vitamin D deficiency seems to be present in most cases of autoimmune disease, there is also typically an emotional element involved. More often than not, some form of hidden emotional wound can be found in patients suffering with autoimmune diseases like MS.

My story….who is Stefan…

Posted by: Stef605  /  Category: Uncategorized

1. I wanted to explain a little more about myself and what’s happened over the years, I would consider myself a bit of a daredevil in lots of ways, I’ve done over 800 skydives, I was a hang glider pilot, a scuba diver, mountain biker, rock climber and a pilot. I was always interested in trying new things and seeing new places, I’ve been very fortunate to have been able to travel to so many countries around the world, 24 to be exact.
2. My life seemed to be so complete, I’ve had great jobs, two great kids and what most people would consider to be a very comfortable life, that was until a terrible day in 1999.
3. I’d been living in
4. Florida expecting the launch of a company I owned 128,000 shares in during the dot com boom. It was antiipated that the shares would launch at $15 and reach $50 within a week or so, this meant that I’d be able to sell my 128,000, I’d make almost $6.5m and I’d be a multi millionaire.
5. The launch was constantly delayed for one reason or another so I had to wait patiently for it to happen, let me tell you it was not an easy thing to do.
6. Back to that terrible day in Florida, I had left the gym then called into Winn Dixie for my groceries then headed back to my condo on Anastasia Island. My condo was on the third floor, three steps from the top with hands clutching my sports bag and shopping bags I tripped. Not having a hand free to break my fall I used my face, ouch, not a good thing to do.
7. I opened my eyes to see teeth and blood sprayed out on the top step, The initial shock and the adrenaline surging through my veins stopped me from crying like a baby but needless to say, I was in a lot of pain.
8. My brother Brian and his family were staying in the condo next to mine so I clawed my way to his door and knocked, Jeni was the first to see me and the shock on her face frightened me, blood running through my fingers with my palm over my mouth.
9. Brian and Jeni were great, helping me to gather everything from the steps, then calling several dentists to find one that could see me now.
10. The next month went by very slowly which couldn’t be said for the money spent on fixing my teeth, Brian helped with thousands of dollars, thanks matie.
11. At first it seemed that everything would be ok, my teeth were fixed so I had a nice smile but little did I know that it would be the start of a decade and more of pain and despair.
12. I had been investing in a stock, of which I owned 128,000 shares, I’d been informed that they would go for their IPO at anytime but that wasn’t the case. An extremely wealthy man, Geoff Squires had invested millions of pounds so the shares were consolidated which basically meant my holding was reduced to 12,800. Obviously GS thought very highly of this company because he poured more money in so the shares were again consolidated reducing my 12,800 to 1,280. At this time I had to return to England and find a regular job.
13. Over the next couple of years I started my own company, a web media company selling advertising and web pages, it was good but hard work.
14. At the end of 2001 I met a woman through some friends and moved to the States, my first thoughts were to meet this woman and see how things went but after a short time it became obvious that we felt a lot more for each other and we married.
15. Dona was a graphic designer and had her own business near Denver, Colorado, I got job working for ADT in the newly formed Fire Systems Group, a division aimed at servicing the fire and security needs of companies in the Denver metro area.
16. My life seemed good to me, although my wife’s personality seemed to change. In hindsight the change in personality and attitude towards me should have alerted me to what was really going on, but, ever the romantic optimist I ignored the signs.
17. I continued to exercise daily although it worried me that my stamina was failing, I couldn’t ride my mountain bike as far or as hard as I did before. Even though I worked out with weights 3 times per week I seemed to be getting weaker not stronger. We sold the house and bought a bigger place in Castle Rock, it wouldn’t be finished for six months so we moved in with some good friends Dick and Susan.
18. I interviewed for a job with Dr Hal Huggins, the more I read about this man the more I was in awe of him. He had made a stand against the all powerful ADA and FDA by proving amalgam fillings were dangerous. This didn’t go down well with a billion dollar giant (ADA) and a government agency (FDA) who were also in the pockets of the trillion dollar mega giants, the pharmaceutical industry.
19. Doc was about to offer me the job of Client Service Director when he asked me if I was prepared to lose all my friends. At first I thought this a rather strange question. I asked why would he ask that, he then said, “when you know what you’ll know, you’ll lose all your friends. I was intrigued and excited but eventually I said yes and started working a week later.
20. As my knowledge expanded with sitting in on doc’s consultations and reading all his books, I understood what he meant when he asked if I was prepared to lose my friends. It became obvious that so much of what is generally understood by the general public is tainted and twisted misinformation being spread by the hierarchy of six trillion dollar conglomerates.
21. Headed by the Pharmaceutical industry the others are the Oil and Gas giants, Food, Insurance, Law and I will group the ADA/ASA and AMA together.
22. Think about it, big pharma spend billions on advertising their potions, you get sick so you take legal action but in the meantime you’ve helped line the coffers of two giants. While that is happening the insurance scam is growing, the food industry are not interested in health so they pile more and more contaminants into our food. And guess what, yes you get sicker meaning the insurance and big pharma are real happy.
23. To add to all this the ADA/AMA and ASA are spreading more and more misinformation so you get even sicker and use more drugs, it is such a travesty of justice how these groups are conspiring to make the world a sicker place, well most of the world anyway.
24. In October 08 I attended a three day training for new dentist’s in Colorado Springs, at the end of the first day I was leaving the hotel, in the elevator with Dr Blanche Grube and Dr Marilyn Medina, Dr Grube asked if I was going to have a total dental revision. I explained that this wasn’t possible financially for me although it was probably more important I have it than for most other people. When I explained I had MS, the shocked look on both their faces was a picture I’ll never forget.
25. Dr Blanche told me….yes told me that I was to come to Pennsylvania for treatment, then to my utter surprise told me that she would do this treatment for nothing, nada, zilch money. With tears in my eyes I hugged her and thanked her from the bottom of my heart, after nine years I was finally going to get better.
26. Tomorrow, the continuation of how I beat MS
27. I’d had the necessary impressions made with a local Huggins trained dentist which were then sent to Dr Grube, I’m sure you can imagine how excited and nervous I was when I arrived in Scranton knowing I was about to have an operation that could possibly change my life.
28. Dr Grube picked me up from the airport and took me to her practice, it was after 7pm but the staff had stayed behind so I could have all the necessary x-rays prior to the surgery the next day. After the full mouth series of x-rays Dr Grube took me to the motel and spent some time preparing me for what was about to happen the next day.
29. The next day was Wednesday and I had 7 hours of dental work done, my amalgam fillings were all replaced with a bio compatible material in the first three and a half hour sitting, the next three and a half was to remove my wisdom teeth and clean out a cavitation in number 19 on the bottom left of my jaw.
30. Because she used conscious sedation I didn’t experience any pain whatsoever, in fact that evening back at the motel I didn’t even need a pain killer. I went to a local restaurant and ate soup followed by yogurt.
31. I had no dentistry the next day, that was so important as it would enable my immune system to recover, then on the Friday I was quite nervous as I knew I was about to have my front six teeth removed, but Dr Grube was so gentle with me, the conscious sedation was applied intravenously before the anaesthesia, so no needles in my gums, well they were but I didn’t see them which I can assure you was far less traumatic.
32. When I awoke three and a half hours later, I felt a little strange, as in I noticed I didn’t have teeth in the front of my mouth however there was no pain at that time. I was taken upstairs to see the massage therapist who made me feel a lot better. Acupressure and massage reintroduce the muscles and nerves in your body that had lost sensation over the years since I’d contracted MS.
33. When I returned to the motel the discomfort and pain were starting to set in, Dr Grube’s husband, a chiropractor and herbalist had given me some herbs and botanicals to help. That night was a bad night for me, I felt very alone, thousands of miles from home and no one to help or comfort me. I closed the curtains and took one percocet for the pain which in all honesty was really bad. I made ice packs by crushing ice an wrapping it in a wet towel which I placed over my jaw. As I was alone I had to replace this every 20 minutes which was a pain in the butt. I’d rest or at least try to, then twenty minutes later get up and refresh the ice pack. I didn’t sleep much at all that night but I kept telling myself that it was only temporary and that in a short while I’d be a lot better.
34. The following day was a little better for me, the manager of the hotel had put a fridge in my room and stocked it with lots of yogurt as he knew I wasn’t able to eat anything solid, he was a good man, in fact all the staff were very helpful at the Hampton Inn.
35. During my surgeries on both days I had 25g’s and 50g’s of intravenous Vitamin C, this made a massive difference to my potential healing. I have to point out that this was given over a 3.5 and 4.5 hr period, the Vitamin C is essential and has to be given over at least this time or the body will not absorb the Vitamin C.
36. The following week, I remained in Scranton to have intravenous Vit-C each day, also my six tooth partial would be fitted on Thursday. I definitely felt a little strange not having teeth in the front of my mouth. On Thursday evening, the partial was fitted, I was very pleased, then, Dr Grube and her husband took me out for dinner, it felt so good to have solid food.
37. I flew back to Colorado on Saturday.
38. Getting back to work on Monday felt good, although I was happy that I’d had the surgery and what it could potentially do for me, I needed to be back at work, talking with, and trying to help others. That might sound strange but I loved what I did for work, it was incredibly fulfilling for me knowing that every day I had an opportunity to make a positive change in someone’s life.
39. The first week or so was actually quite difficult for me, getting accustomed to the partial in my mouth, although my speech didn’t appear to be affected it still felt weird having a lump of plastic (acrylic denture) in my mouth.
40. An important point to make for all others having a denture fitted is that it should be made of clear acrylic not colored. Yes the dentist will tell you that it should be colored pink to make it more natural looking. That statement couldn’t be further from the truth, firstly when it’s colored pink to make it look like your gums, it will stand out like a sore thumb but more importantly the pink color is made from cadmium or mercury or both.
41. Your dentist won’t give you this information or tell you that both are highly toxic and likely to affect your health in a detrimental way.
42. Now I’ve mentioned that I had always been a very physically active man so as I started to feel better mentally I also wanted to try my hand at exercising again, doc told me that I should wait three months before I put my body through any physical exertions. This was killing me to wait although I didn’t feel I could go back to serious strenuous exercise just yet, but I wanted to try.
43. I waited about six weeks before I attempted anything, there is an exercise called a squat thrust, this is starting in a push up position then jumping your legs forward and backwards completing one squat thrust. In an earlier part of my life I would do lots of these each day, very good cardio exercise and very demanding on the shoulders and legs. My first attempt was pathetic, I managed six squat thrusts, yes only six, my lungs were rasping and my thighs simply gave up.
44. A few days later I was talking with Chris Shade PhD who had been talking with doc about a chelating agent he’d developed called intestinal metal detox (IMD). Chris suggested that I try his product and very generously gave me a three months supply. Little did I know at the time how big an impact it was going to have on me.
45. On Saturday morning I took one 100 mg capsule before breakfast and waited to see if I felt anything, well I did feel something, quite nauseous actually, which was quite disappointing as I’d hoped for big changes, maybe I was a little too optimistic.
46. The following day I took the IMD after I’d eaten breakfast and I was very pleasantly surprised that I didn’t feel nauseous, about two hours after taking it I tried to do some more squat thrusts, wow, I managed 20, you should have seen the look on my face. I felt so good having done three times more of this exercise than the previous week’s attempt. Later that day I did another 20 and an hour later managed 10 more.
47. I was taking he IMD every day and exercising more and more, in fact within a month I was doing three sets of 60 squat thrusts each day. At this time I actually believed I was going to be symptom free within a year.
48. Tomorrow, disapointment sets in.
49. Over the course of the following months I definitely noticed improvements however, I still didn’t feel I was about to break through into good health so I kept looking at alterntives. I had been taking a health beverage called XanGo since I was originally diagnosed in ’04’ and I honestly feel that taking ‘the juice’ had been very influential in keeping me alive and working.
50. So I was taking Xango, I’d had the full dental revision with Dr Grube, I was going thru body chemistry rebalancing with Dr Huggins and I had taken the IMD so as long as I continued doing the right things I would get better, right?
51. No, I knew there were pieces of the puzzle still missing so I kept looking, one day I received an email, I don’t know why I received it, but I did. Anyway it talked about someone called Dr Madison Cavanaugh who professed to be able to help relieve any condition. Her book was called “The one minute cure”. At first I was very skeptical but I thought I’ve nothing to lose by opening the email.
52. The book was 119 pages and one comment she made was so valid, “disease cannot live in an oxygenated environment”, so I spent the next day reading and re reading her book and was very pleasantly surprised by her research with hydrogen peroxide..H202.
53. Dr Cavanaugh used an analogy that I thought was quite apt when she said, “mosquito’s don’t make a pool stagnant, they go to a stagnant pool”, so think about it, cancer develops in a non oxygenated environment. Cancer feeds on sugar, so the more acidic the body becomes, the greater the chance of developing a disease like cancer.
54. She recommends using 35% food grade hydrogen peroxide, this isn’t the stuff you buy from Walgreens or Walmart, that is just 3% and not food grade so I suggest that you don’t even think about that stuff, it’s not going to help you.
55. I ordered mine from a company in Florida if I remember correctly, I’m fairly sure their website was www.pureh202forhealth.com but don’t hold me to that. Wherever you get it from it has to be 35% food grade, when mine arrived, it came in a quart container plus a small blue dropper. I very carefully poured a small amount into the dropper and kept the quart container in the freezer, yes the freezer, it won’t freeze so don’t worry. The dropper I kept in the fridge.
56. The next day I started as per the instructions in the book “One minute cure” which suggested I take three drops in 8 ozs of distilled water. I was to have it one hour before eating in the morning and three hours after eating. It required a little planning but I was determined to do this right.
57. My first drink was gross. it tasted like sulfur, not that I’ve tasted sulfur but the after taste and smell reminded me of the smell after a match had been struck. Anyway I had three drops in the morning then repeating that an hour before lunch and the same at dinner.
58. I didn’t feel any different, but then again I didn’t really expect to, so the next day I moved up a drop and made it four drops three times a day. I was to increase by one drop each day right up to twenty five drops then back down to three, which is the maintenance dose.
59. As the day’s went by it became harder and harder to cope with the increasing amount of hydrogen peroxide, if you got some of this stuff on your skin, it burnt. and I can tell you it happened to me several times. However, I also noticed improvements in my health, I started to feel better, more coordinated and better stability. I noticed that it became more and more difficult to eat foods at the right time, this was a major problem for me as I need to eat every three hours. Its almost a hypoglycemic reaction. The problem was that if I ate three hours after and one hour before taking the h202, it would give me major stomach pains, so as the dosage increased, the discomfort also increased.
60. But I stuck with it and continued right up to twenty five drops three times a day then back down to three drops three times per day as the maintenance dose. Sadly this didn’t cure my MS, that’s not to say it won’t work on other diseases, it just didn’t do the job for me.
61. So it was back to the drawing board and searching for a way to beat this so called incurable disease, I was determined to beat this.
62. Over the next few months I’d keep looking for alternative ways of beating this horrid disease, there must have been another ten things I tried, but nothing had any positive effects. One day a friend on mine, a client called Linda living in Nova Scotia who also had MS, sent me an email urging me to look at W5 CTV, a Canadian TV station that had a ground breaking story.
63. The reporter had gone to see Dr Paolo Zamboni at the university of Ferrera in Italy, he was determined to cure his wife of MS and had been researching for several years. His research lead him to believe that his wife had a blockage in her jugular vein which was restricting the blood flow in his wife’s body. Now from the work I’d been doing with Dr Huggins, I understood that the hemeglobin in the red blood cells carries oxygen throughout the body, oxyhemeglobin. Dr Zamboni did an operation to enlage the jugular veins and clear the blockage, this resulted in improved blood flow, hence, more oxygen to the brain.
64. His wife had tremendous results, he didn’t want to tell the world of his findings without having done further research. His work continued with another group of 120 MS patients and he found the common denominator with all patients was that they had all had some form of head trauma prior to being diagnosed with MS. In fact he found that all 120 patients he studied had the same story, they had fallen, car accident, been hit over the head or something to create head and neck trauma. He performed the operation on the patients who all had significant improvements.
65. He named the operation CCSVI or Chronic Cerebral Spinal Venous Insufficiency. He then set about telling the world.
66. As I’m sure you can imagine, the bastion of western medicine dismissed Dr Zamboni’s work as pure luck that his wife had had improvements, in their blinkered view nothing could substitute for good old fashioned medicine, drugs to treat the symptom, because as far as they were concerned the disease was incurable. All this proved was that they had been brainwashed by the pharmaceutical industry and the money they poured out to lobbyists, and to the general practitioners who arrogantly insist that their opinion was right.
67. Please don’t think I’m demeaning the work doctors do because that’s not my intention, doctors in the main have the patients health as their primary goal, however, I honestly believe that these good hearted people have lost sight of the truth, they are constantly bombarded by the drug company rep’s. Their aim is to convince the doctor to use their product, these pariah’s, I mean people, use studies to show how their drug worked to reduce the symptom of anxiety or depression or allergy. What they don’t show is it is their own study conducted in a very biased environment, they only show you what they want and what is going to be beneficial to to them.
68. Please listen to the commercial in it’s entirety and you’ll hear the potential benefits then you’ll hear about all the possible dangers, it is laughable really, when they tell you in a very gentle voice how there is a possibility of lowering your ability to fight cancer or heart disease and there is a possibility of dying. If this happens consult your doctor!!!!
69. Ok back to CCSVI, I knew that this was what I wanted to do, what I needed to do, but how was that going to happen knowing I loved my job but it wasn’t highly paid.
70. The problem of raising the money to go to Bulgaria where the operation was done was very slim, I searched for alternative locations that could possibly be more affordable.
71. I found that there were several countries performing the operation, Italy, Bulgaria, Poland, India, Sweden, England and Peurto Rico. I called and asked about prices and was shocked to find it would be cheaper to go to Bulgaria than anywhere else. Yes the treatment was cheaper in India but getting there was very expensive and hygiene was a major consideration.
72. I eventually heard of three locations in the US, this has got to be a better option I thought. None of the locations were following Dr Zamboni’s protocol exactly, there is an arrogance problem here, yes they were performing CCSVI but it was being done in a different way. This gave me major concerns, I called and talked to staff who informed me that the operation was being done in “their own way”. The alarm bells were sounding, was this just a way to show the operation as not being credible or successful. A way of demeaning Zamboni’s work and persuading MS patients to stick with drugs rather than attempting to get their lives back.
73. So I decided to make Bulgaria my choice for having the operation, just knowing that more than 14,000 patients worldwide had had positive results from the operation and more than 1,500 had been to Bulgaria gave me a lot of confidence in their work. There are two locations in Bulgaria that are performing the CCSVI operation and following Dr Zamboni’s protocol, the main location is Tokada hospital in Sofia and the other in Varna.
74. From a cost perspective the Varna location was more viable financially, but Sofia was where I wanted to go, a good friend on mine in England had been there and reported wonderful results so if it would be possible, Sofia would be where I went.
75. The problem now was raising the money, I’d need about $10,000 to be able to go, have the operation, pay for a hotel for a week after to recuperate and feed myself during that time. Ok that was the biggest issue but I’d also be a lot better off if someone could be my caregiver during the time in Bulgaria.
76. My girlfriend at the time was a wonderful lady from Thailand although she lived in Israel, I didn’t think it would be possible for her to accompany me and stay for a week. Panee is an amazing woman who told me she would definitely be there to look after me for the whole week. I was really excited and extremely pleased that she would take the time off work and travel to Bulgaria.
77. Now, how do I get the money, after wracking my brains trying to think of ways I could generate the necessary funds and not coming up with any positive idea’s I was hit by a life changing slap in the face.
78. Friday April 22nd, I had to leave work in the afternoon to have the brakes on my truck replaced, I didn’t have much money so I opted to just have the front brakes replaced and keep the cost down as much as possible. $200 lighter I returned to work only to see Jamie our office manager looking quite upset. She came into my office and sat down looking really sad, she asked me to come into her office as she had some bad news.
79. As I sat down I noticed something on her desk that made me feel that dreaded pit in the stomach, a check.
80. She told me that Dr Huggins wanted to focus his attention on DNA testing rather than helping people through body chemistry re-balancing. In order to do this he would have to bring in a specialist in the area of DNA testing, to be able to pay this specialist he would have to cut his outlay, as I was one of only two salaried employee’s, the other being the office manager, I would have to go.
81. I know lots of people lose their jobs all the time, it’s a fact of life, the world moves on, the slap in the face was that I’d dedicated my life to Dr Huggins for the past three and a half years, taken very little vacation time, in fact in 08 I’d worked an additional 400 hours, unpaid..
82. He gave me a check, paying me to the end of the month, yes one weeks pay and that was it, I’d worked there with no pension or medical benefits and my reward was a check for one week and a slap in the face. It looked like the ccsvi operation was not going to happen now.
83. The first days as unemployed were very difficult, I think I was close to being in a state of depression, although in the back of my mind I kept telling myself that I had to do something to improve my situation, how I could raise the money to get to Bulgaria and give me a chance to live a normal life again. I started to think about the Alliance dentist’s who I’d worked with quite closely over the past three and a half years. They were all reasonably affluent, they had a good attitude towards helping others so why not help me?
84. I decided to write to all 43 Huggins trained dentists and explain my situation and appeal to them, my email explained why I was no longer working for Dr Huggins and reminded them of my willingness to help in the past. I had spent a great deal of time talking to their patients and getting patients to them for dental treatment. Now I was asking for them to return the favor and donate some money to the fund of saving my life.
85. In some ways I was a little disappointed in the response, of the 43 only 10 reponded positively, but three friends and my sister and mother also helped financially. So, over the coming months I’d managed to raise around $13,000 which was enough to go to Bulgaria, have the operation and allow some time for recuperation after the surgery.
86. Jim and Nidnoy, my girlfriends aunty and uncle also made a big financial donation which really made a big difference, not only would I be able to go but I’d be able to survive financially for several months until I was able to work again, this was excellent and relieved me of a great deal of stress.
87. I booked my surgery for the end of June and made the appropriate arrangements for flights etc, the wonderful, beautiful, amazing Panee also made arrangements to meet me there, I booked the hotel in Varna, made arrangements to stay in a motel the night before my flight from Denver and was like a kid with a gold card in ToysRus waiting to go.
88. June 27th I flew from Denver to London via Philidelphia, it actually was cheaper to fly to the UK, change airports then fly to Bulgaria, than to fly directly to Bulgaria. I arrived in London Heathrow the following day and had to transfer to Luton. This was very difficult for me as walking any distance was nigh on impossible. So I had to be wheelchaired from the plane, through customs and out to the taxi rank where I’d meet the taxi to transfer me the 35 miles to Luton.
89. Arriving at Luton was the start of several more problems, Luton airport used to be a small provincial airport but had gone through some major refurbishment over the past ten years. The taxi wasn’t allowed to take me to a drop off point at the terminal, he had to drop me about 100 yards away, it was extremely busy, lots of railings so the route was not direct, it was very a winding path that crossed roads. To make it worse a monsoon had started, rain was coming down so hard it was like a river flooding along the road.
90. The driver helped in that he parked then ran in the rain to get me a wheelchair, then he pushed me into a very small, partly covered waiting area where I could use a phone to ask for assistance. The person on the other end told me they would get someone out to me as soon as possible. Twenty minutes passed which doesn’t sound too bad exept I was not completely sheltered from the rain. In fact my back was getting drenched, so I called again and was told “the person who was supposed to help, didn’t want to go out in the rain”. I tried not to sound too angry with the person on the phone and explained I was in a wheelchair and was getting soaked, so they sent someone out straight away.
91. It was another ten minutes before I was eventually in the terminal, through customs and in the departure lounge waiting for my Wizzair flight allowed me to really feel excited about the operation and seeing Panee again. She and I originally met in February in Colorado and I’d not seen her since March.
92. I arrived in Varna and was met by Irina, the Western Sales Manager for the clinic, she wheeled me through the airport and took me to her car. What a lovely woman she was, driving through Varna made me feel that I was in war torn Bosnia, it was a communist country until 23 years ago so the the buildings were grey concrete and didn’t look very friendly.
93. As we pulled up at the hotel, which looked really nice, I could see Panee stood on the steps waiting for me. I was really excited about having my operation but I almost felt just as excited about seeing Panee. Our meeting was wonderful, lots of hugs and kisses, I checked in, made arrangements with Irina for tomorrow then Panee and I went to our room.
94. The following morning after breakfast we were met by Irina who took us to the clinic for an evaluation and discussion with the neurologist. She was a nice lady, probably in her late 60’s or early 70’s, our communication was through Irina who interpreted. I became a little agitated when the neurologist explained that she didn’t think I had MS. Her words were that she felt it could be another type of sclerosis. I was confused by this comment and asked what she meant.
95. When she said that the symptoms I had made her feel that it could be something else, I could see she was struggling to find the right words to say to me, I then realised that she was intimating that it might not be MS but ALS. Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis is an 18 month to 5 year death sentance.
96. I immediately said that I didn’t think it was ALS because of several things, I had come into contact with several ALS patients and I really didn’t see my symptoms as ALS symptoms, after all I was still able to get around, work out and think clearly. No I could not accept that this was possibly happening to me, no not ALS.
97. I was really upset and it was difficult for me to think, or not think, I had to get this thought out of my head, there was no way I could have that disease.
98. We left and went to a nice little cafe to have lunch, I talked to Irina over lunch and expressed my concern about the neurologist and her view. Irina told me that she hadn’t said I had ALS, just that my symptoms were not typical MS.
99. Panee and I spent the rest of the day in the hotel, we just read and surfed the internet on her laptop, I was now getting really excited because tomorrow I would have my CCSVI operation and if things went really well I would be on my way to health again.
100. Next, the hospital from hell..
101. Irina picked Panee and I up from the hotel and took us to the hospistal, pulling up in the parking lot, actually it wasn’t a parking lot it was park wherever you could, in side streets, in fields, wherever possible. Entering the hospital was a little daunting because there were lots of people milling around, the entrance looked old and decrepit. The paving stones were all cracked and it looked dirty, not what you want to see when entering a hospital.
102. What a difference between the western world and a country that only 23 years ago was communist. Inside wasn’t a lot better, so to say I was apprehensive was not really a good description of how I actually felt.
103. I was eventually taken to a special ward to meet the surgeon, a nice man who spoke some english so I started to feel a little better. After meeting the nurses I was taken into the operating theater, not really sure if that’s a good descrition, but that was where I was about to have the CCSVI.
104. I sat on the table, or where I was about to be operated on, the surgeon started to do some ultra sound scans on my neck to check for a blockage in the jugular veins. The left side was fine but the right was very constricted, it should have been around 14mm thick but only showed 4mm which meant the flow of blood had been very restricted. Because of my work with Dr Huggins and the research I’d done when I first heard about CCSVI I knew that the hemoglobin in the red blood cells carried oxygen or oxyhemoglobin to the organs and tissues throughout the body.
105. Having such a restriction meant the oxygen wasn’t getting to the organs, specifically the brain resulting in CCSVI or Chronic Cerebral Spinal Venous Insufficiency.
106. Now comes the good part, the nurses who didn’t speak English gestured that I should lay on the operating table, they then removed my shoes, socks and sweat pants. At this point I was starting to feel a little strange but it became even more uncomfortable when a big burly nurse then removed my underwear. So I’m laying down with a T shirt on and the lower half of my body completely naked.
107. Another nurse then looked at me with a strange look in her eyes, she then began to shave me, moving my penis to one side then the other. She then brought out a tub of blue liquid and basically painted a pair of shorts on me, lifting my private parts up to swab around my genitals, I’m sure you can imagine how I was feeling, slightly embarrassed and slightly worried but I just kept telling myself that it would all be ok.
108. The surgeon then explained what he would be doing as he made an incision at the top of my left leg and inserted a 2mm diameter tube into the vein at the top of my leg, ouch.
109. He then thread a camera into the tube and started to push it into my body, there was a very advanced doppler scanner overhead monitoring my body so I could see where the camera was going. The surgeon would ask if I felt any pain as he approached the terminus in my chest, I seem to remember he called it the azegus vein, not sure if I’m right about that but anyway that vein was ok so he moved on to the jugular on the left side which was also ok.
110. It felt a little strange as he was threading this camera through my body but I knew it was for a good cause so I didn’t complain. When he reached the jugular on the right I definitely felt some discomfort, not real pain just discomfort so he continued. It was here that the vein was very constricted so he would have to use the angioplasty to inflate the balloon so the vein was increased in diameter.
111. The strangest feelings were going through my mind as I was aware of what was happening, seeing the surgeon manipulating the feed going into my body and watching the screen as the angioplasty balloon was inflated. He kept asking me if I was feeling pain as the balloon was pumped higher, although it wasn’t painful I could feel a tightness in my chest. Nothing like anything else I’d experienced.
112. When he finished and started to withdraw the camera and balloon, I could tell this thing was winding it’s way through my body, just weird, really weird.
113. The surgeon applied a lot of pressure to the exit point to stop it from bleeding, he did this by pressing very hard on my leg, he did this for about five minutes and then the nurses cleaned the area and covered me with a sheet. I looked at him and said, you remember in my notes it said that I had a humming bird bladder. He acknowledged my comment then nodded to the nurses to bring a bottle for me to pee in. This was the weirdest thing as the nurse removed the sheet, grabbed hold of my penis and placed it into a bottle. I was then told to pee, which I did, the nurse waited for me to finish, removed the bottle and wiped me before replacing the sheet.
114. Then Panee and Irina came into the operating theater and asked how I felt, I said OK but not any different at this time. I was then told that it may take three to six months before the operation could truly have a long lasting positive effect.
115. I was then wheeled out after dressing and taken in an elevator that had no internal door, as it went up to the top floor I could see the walls moving past, well the elevator moving past the walls actually. We got to the top floor and then wheeled into a ward, you could tell it was newly painted with a pastel green color. There were two very basic beds with two inch plastic mattresses. I could just about see out the window and Varna looked like war torn Bosnia, so not exactly a good view, but I’d had the operation and I was grateful.
116. That day in the hospital was terrible for me, I was confined to the very uncomfortable plastic mattressed bed for 24 hrs, not being able to get out of be meant that I would have to pee in a bottle, in itself isn’t so bad but the fact that I have a hummingbird bladder meant I would pee every hour. This is where Panee showed true love for me, every time I moved or looked uncomfortable she would jump to my rescue. If I needed anything she was there, I never had to ask for help, she just offered and that was absolutely wonderful.
117. The night was horrendous, I didn’t sleep at all, my butt was numb through laying in the same position, the bed was sweaty because of the plastic mattress and cheap sheets but I just kept telling myself it was only temporary and would be over soon. My faith in God was so important at that time, I kept reassuring myself that the Lord would look after me and with his help things would be good soon.
118. At 9 am the surgeon came to see me and inspected the wound where he’d made the incision, it had healed so after a few questions I was released, sounds like a prison, discharged from hospital.
119. Panee and I left with Irina, me in wheelchair until I was off hospital grounds, back to the hotel and the comfort of a wonderful bed which I took advantage of straight away, I managed to sleep for several hours and catch up on some very needed sleep.
120. The first day after the operation was spent relaxing mainly, relaxing by the pool or reading, just taking it easy. I was so grateful to Panee, she helped me so much throughout the day, in fact I know I wouldn’t have been able to do anything without her help, I felt so blessed.
121. In some ways I felt a little sad because the improvements I expected weren’t happening, or at least not as quickly as I’d expected. I was still very unstable on my feet, my coordination and stability were just as before the operation.
122. I kept reminding myself that the surgeon had said it could take up to six months before I felt 100% again, so I just prayed that the success of the operation would take place in time. After all, there had been more than 14,000 success stories around the world to date so why wouldn’t it happen for me.
123. After a week of relaxing at the hotel, it was time to leave Bulgaria, I was a little sad as my healing hadn’t happened as I’d expected and I was saying goodbye to Panee, she had to return to Israel for the rest of the year and I was flying to England to see family and friends.
124. Irina and Panee drove me to the airport and arranged for assistance as I was in a wheelchair to be transported through the airports, it was very sad leaving Panee, I’d realised she was the woman for me, for the rest of my life. Hopefully the next time we saw each other I would be healthy again.
125. I had several problems on the flight to England, well not on the flight but the journey itself, however being with family in England should help my recovery, seeing the people I loved and being at sea level rather than altitude in Colorado should help.
126. I think I’d been a litttle too optimistic about my recovery because it wasn’t happening, at least not as quick as I’d hoped, yes I definitely felt better mentally and there was some improvement in my physical ability. Maybe because I’ve always been a very physical person all my life that the small improvements were not seen as significant enough for me.
127. I spent several days in England and was really happy to see Mum who I stayed with for a few days, my daughter Lucy came over and spent several hours which made me very happy.
128. I left to drive up to my sister Suzie’s for a day before going to see Sarah and Paul who lived a few miles from Manchester Airport where I was leaving the UK from. They are a wonderful couple and I’m so grateful for their help and hospitality.
129. I’d been told that there was a possibility of work with Natural Horizons Wellness Center in Fairfax, Virginia, so I was to go there to interview and see if this was somewhere I’d like to work. The facilities were wonderful, the staff, really nice but, and this is a big but! it was so humid which is one of the worst environments for MS sufferers. I think it was a mutual decision to not work there, they hadn’t actually offered the position to me although they had intimated the job was mine before I went there. Pete Ewens actually made a big point about me visiting their location when I returned from Bulgaria and arranged for a hotel for a couple of nights so in my mind it was an offer.
130. The humidity was so debilitating for me that I couldn’t get away quick enough, back to Colorado, for me it felt like going home, yes it is where I lived but being English I suppose I’ve always thought of England as my home. But now I think of Colorado in that way, not England, yes I will always be from England and proud of it but Colorado is my home.
131. Arriving back in Colorado was a relief for me, yes the state is a mile high or a mile above sea level meaning the air is much thinner, you can imagine how difficult that makes it for the MS sufferer but I love it here and I suppose it’s fair to say that my body and lungs specifically have become accustomed to the lack of air.
132. It probably took several days to get back into the swing of things after I got home but I was glad to be here and I remained optimistic for the future.
133. I’d had my prescription for low dose naltrexone filled and was taking one each evening before bed, my friend Sarah in England had been having a great response from using it so I kept my hopes up.
134. I decided to drink a lot more XanGo when I got back because I know how much it’s helped in the past, I had some extra juice so I’d drink a little more each day to see if that helped. I truly believe if I’d never found XanGo that things would have been totally different for me. This juice allowed me to live, it gave me a real chance of normalcy when I was first diagnosed with MS in “04”, The people I’d met with MS were all in wheelchairs or using cane’s or some other device to enable them to get around. I didn’t need anything, infact I was able to exercise with weights and a recumabant exercise bike, I put this down to XanGo initially and then body chemistry re-balancing.
135. The nutritionally bereft foods that are provided these days, if anything are more damaging to us than helpful as they are portrayed by the media. So using a high quality supplement is in my opinion, essential to subsidize our diet.
136. As time went by I was becoming despondant because on some days I felt a little better but most days I didn’t, infact I probably felt worse, it was hard for me, I live alone so there was no one to help in the day to day activities. I had to go out and buy food. Look after the house, laundry and the other things that most people take for granted. Walking around, lifting things were becoming increasingly more difficult.
137. I pray a great deal and make an attempt to stay focussed on where I need to be, where I need to go, as in getting healthy again. My friends, Jim and Nitnoy, Panee’s uncle and aunt were so helpful, not just supportive mentally but also financially, Jim helped on several occasions with some money to pay bills or buy food.
138. One day while visiting them, Jim asked why I’d not written a book about what I knew from working with Dr Huggins, this got me thinking, I’d worked for him for over three years, I’d studied the work of Weston A Price, Thomas Levy, George Meinig and several others. So why wasn’t I documenting this? Jim mentioned that Amazon had a service through their Kindle arm that provided a book publishing service that didn’t cost anything initially, so why didn’t I use that?
139. I decided to write my book which I would call “Life according to Huggins”
140. I was very enthusiastic about writing a book about some of the things I learned by working for Dr Huggins, being able to cover in more detail, the subjects of health relating to dental work and how it influences your health.
141. Subjects such as Amalgam filling, Root canals, Cavitations and so much more, my problem would be how to get it published and more importantly how the effort and time would be able to financially support itself.
142. After lots of research I realised that this would only be a way of fulfilling a passion of mine, to inform the general public and hopefully help them to address health issues and avoid dental problems.
143. There is no way that the book would sell in it’s thousands on a monthly basis to the general public so I had to think of another way to make this work.
144. I had an idea that if the Alliance dentist’s, those trained by Dr Huggins would provide this to their patients, this could actually be financially viable. I wrote to the Alliance and sent them a short preview of the book including the forwards written by Dr Grube and Dr Rothchild who said wonderful things about the book and how it would help every patient.
145. Again I was disappointed to discover the response was less than enthusiastic, I don’t think it was because the book didn’t provide the necessary information or that it was too expensive. I just think that the mercury toxic dentist’s didn’t follow up, being forgetful is a common problem with the mercury toxic.
146. Over a month or two the book sold a hundred or so copies which wouldn’t be anything like the number of sales I’d need for it to provide a sustainable income, so I had to think of other ways to get it noticed.
147. One day the wonderful Dr Grube called and explained that Dr Huggins was really upset that I was selling a book on his specialist subject, apparently he was so upset he was going to take legal action against me, what grounds he thought he had completely escaped me. I hadn’t revealed any of his trade secrets in the book or the website, in fact I strongly recommend the readers call Dr Huggins office to get specific information so why would he take legal action against me?
148. Dr Grube pleaded with me to remove the book from Amazon, she said that she would write to the Alliance dentists suggesting they use me to speak with their new and existing patients. This seemed like a good idea, the dentists would pay a set fee for my services, consultancy services.
149. This gave me a lot of hope knowing she would make the recommendation, as she is the president of the IABDM I felt I couldn’t have a better recommendation, so this would surely work and relieve the stress from me.
150. Stress for the MS patient is even worse than consuming sugar, so a relief from that was bound to help me, little did I know that Dr Huggins was strongly against this, I have no idea why that would be the case. I mean I would be strongly advocating the adherance to his protocols and use of body chemistry re balancing which can only be done by him, so why would he object.
151. The only answer I could come up with is that 1) he feels threatened by my knowledge or 2) he felt guilty because he let me go and now I would be doing a great job promoting him.
152. I’m not sure about why Dr Huggins was against the book but he is an unusual man, a very complex man, an incredible man actually so I suppose I should be grateful for the knowledge I gained and be happy I can share it with others.
153. This website has proven to be incredibly popular with people all over the world. That’s not an exaggeration because I get positive comments from lots of countries in Europe and the far east as well, in addition to the US and Canada so I’m happy to help.
154. Several people have commented that they would like to donate money to help keep this blog alive, if you’ve read this far into my story you’ll realize that I’m unemployed and coping with MS so funds are tight to say the least. I set up a Donate button that appears on every post. If 1 in 10 viewers donated as little as $1 it would help significantly to keep me afloat.
155. I’ve offered to send a copy of my book to everyone that donates $5 or more, all they need to do is let me know their email address and I will forward the book that day, or as soon as possible.
156. Walking has been very difficult for me this past couple of months, yes I had the CCSVI operation and I believe long term it will help me. However it’s still a challenge for me, MS is considered an incurable disease but I honestly think a part of it is in the mind. We get bombarded with information from medical professionals, friends and family that there is nothing that can be done so it’s natural for the mind to believe it. Part of getting better is convincing yourself that good health is a feasible option.

Plastic lettuce…

Sidestep These Veggies – Even if They’re Organic

                            Story at-a-glance

  • Most people are well aware that fresh conventionally-grown produce is more or less contaminated with pesticides. Less known is the now-common practice of coating fresh fruits and vegetables—including organic varieties—with edible plastic coatings to increase shelf life
  • So-called modified atmosphere packaging (MAP) involves controlling or modifying the atmosphere surrounding the product to slow spoilage. This can be accomplished by coating the food with an edible film
  • Four basic materials used for edible films are lipids, resins, polysaccharides and proteins, to which a variety of antimicrobials, plasticizers and texturizers are added
  • These types of coatings present several potential health hazards, the most severe of which is the potential to promote the growth of foodborne pathogens if misapplied

By Dr. Mercola

Videos like the two featured above have started making the rounds online, raising questions about what exactly that plastic-looking “peel” found on some fresh produce might be.

Let me preface this article by saying that I do not have the answer, but I will present a couple of theories here.

Fruits and vegetables—apparently even organically-grown varieties—may have cow-, pig-, and chicken collagen coatings on them rather than wax, as well as a number of other unsavory ingredients.

Wax was first applied to the skins of fruits and vegetables for longer shelf life hundreds of years ago.

Today, that tradition is being carried on with a new generation of chemicals and compounds I’d rather NOT have on my fresh produce…

Modified Atmospheric Packaging

While I normally do not feature blog posts, this instance is a rare exception, as I thought this Reality Blog report contained quite a bit of worth-while details. In response to one of the videos above, this blogger dug up information about so-called ‘modified atmosphere packaging‘ that could offer one potential explanation for the bizarre plastic-like coating found on lettuce:

“… [M]odified atmosphere packaging (MAP) … involves either actively or passively controlling or modifying the atmosphere surrounding the product within a package made of various types and/or combinations of films … Edible films may consist of four basic materials: lipids, resins, polysaccharides and proteins …  The most common plasticizer used to cast edible films is food-grade polyethylene glycol, which is used to reduce film brittleness … Gelatin is … extracted from the boiled crushed bones, connective tissues, organs and some intestines of animals such as domesticated cattle, chicken, and pigs.”

So, could that rubbery peel be a form of sprayed-on MAP, designed to prolong shelf life of fresh produce? As detailed by Reality Blog, this certainly seems like one reasonable conclusion.

Edible “Invisible Packaging” is More Common than You Might Think

According to the FDA, modified atmosphere packaging (MAP), which includes so-called “smart” and “edible” types of packaging, has made great strides over the past decade or so, and has “greatly improved the quality and shelf-stability” of otherwise highly perishable produce. This type of packaging can be either “active” or “passive.”

The FDA explains:

“Active modification occurs by the displacement of gases in the package, which are then replaced by a desired mixture of gases, while passive modification occurs when the product is packaged using a selected film type, and a desired atmosphere develops naturally as a consequence of the products’ respiration and the diffusion of gases through the film. … Reducing the rate of respiration by limiting O2 (dioxygen) prolongs the shelf life of fruits and vegetables by delaying the oxidative breakdown of the complex substrates which make up the product. Also, O2 concentrations below 8% reduce the production of ethylene, a key component of the ripening and maturation process.” [Emphasis mine]

Essentially, by spraying a substance on the fresh produce, which forms a thin film, oxygen levels can be limited, which slows down the ripening process. So what might this “edible” film substance be comprised of? The list of potential ingredients is a long one, and will vary from product to product, but can be generally divided into four basic materials:

  1. Lipids (waxes, oils, stearic acid)
  2. Resins (such as shellac and wood rosin)
  3. Polysaccharides (such as cellulose, pectin, starch, carrageenan, and chitosan)
  4. Proteins (such as casein, soy, and corn-zein)

Common additives to these base materials include:

  • Plasticizers (such as polyethylene glycol, glycerol, and “other cross-linking agents”)
  • Antimicrobials
  • Antioxidants
  • Texturizers (to customize the film for the particular product)

The FDA’s web page on MAP’s offers one fairly detailed example of a concoction used on tomatoes to successfully extend their shelf life: Most of us are used to thinking about pesticide residues when purchasing fresh fruits and vegetables, but few probably consider that ON TOP of that, there’s an additional layer of miscellaneous resins and plasticizers…

“Park and others (1994) reported the successful application of a corn-zein film to extend the shelf life of tomatoes. Color change, loss of firmness, and weight loss during storage were delayed, and shelf life was extended by 6 days in comparison to untreated tomatoes. The corn-zein product used in the above study was a commercial product that was brushed onto the tomatoes, and consisted of 54 grams of corn-zein, 14 grams of glycerine, and 1 gram of citric acid dissolved in 260 grams of ethanol.”

Is it Safe to Eat?

Edible coatings probably won’t kill you, but if you have a choice, why would you opt to eat fruits and vegetables that have been coated in a rubbery film?  And, these types of coatings DO present a very real potential health hazard. The FDA openly admits that edible coatings have been associated with a number of problems:

“For example, modification of the internal gas composition of the product due to high CO2 and low O2 can cause problems such as anaerobic fermentation of apples and bananas, rapid weight loss of tomatoes, elevated levels of core flush for apples, rapid decay in cucumbers, and so on,” the FDA states.

“… [A]t extremely low O2 levels (that is, <1%), anaerobic respiration can occur, resulting in tissue destruction and the production of substances that contribute to off-flavors and off-odors, as well as the potential for growth of foodborne pathogens such as Clostridium botulinum.”

This may help explain why fresh produce has managed to be the source of several outbreaks of food poisoning in the past several years. To combat the growth of foodborne pathogens, antimicrobial agents are added, such as:

“…metal ions supported in zeolite, isothiocyanate in cyclodextrin with cobalt ion, chitosan, allyl isothiocyanate, silver-based fungicide, quaternary ammonium salt, organic monoglycerides, copper and zinc, benzoic acid, sodium benzoate, sorbic acid and potassium sorbate and propionic acid. Researchers are also currently looking at the use of nisin, a bacteriocin, in coatings to suppress L. monocytogenes, as well as other bacteriocins for the control of C. botulinum. Successful applications of this technology have been demonstrated using sodium caseinate/stearic acid to coat peeled carrots and caseinate/acetylated monoglyceride to coat celery sticks.”

The “Epidermal Peel” Theory

Another theory floating about is that this coating isn’t really a coating at all, but rather an entirely natural occurrence, referred to as “epidermal peel,” caused by cold weather. Lettuces in particular appear to be affected in this way when exposed to frost conditions. Epidermal peel can be likened to “chapped lips,” in that the outer layer of a leaf will get damaged by freezing temperatures, causing a layer to peel away from the leaf. This peeling is typically considered unsightly, and harvesters will typically remove as many of the affected leaves as possible.

But while it sounds like what we’re seeing in the featured videos could be epidermal peeling, is it really?

Unfortunately, I’ve not been able to find any kind of visual example of this naturally-occurring epidermal peeling to compare it with what we’re seeing in the videos. In one 2011 Produce Report, the damage is described as follows, which leads me to think that what these consumers found is NOT epidermal peeling, but rather some form of MAP coating:

“Freezing causes blisters to form on the frost affected areas of Iceberg and Romaine lettuce. These blisters pop and then peel as the plant continues to grow. The epidermal peel discolors and eventually leads to decay. Harvest crews work at a reduced pace to remove all affected leaves before packing. The result is smaller heads, lighter weights and pale color.”

How Can You Avoid Produce Coated in “Edible Plastic”?

Whatever the truth is with regards to the featured videos, one thing is for sure: MAP films are definitely being used on fresh produce, both conventional and organically-grown. Once you understand the reason WHY fresh foods are coated, the answer to how to avoid them becomes rather self-evident… Fresh fruits and vegetables of all kinds are “preserved” in this way in order to remain sellable even after lengthy transportation.

If you buy your produce from a local farm, they naturally will not need to process any of their foods in such a manner. This is yet another great reason to buy locally-farmed foods, even if it’s not certified organic—although that would certainly be ideal.  Still, fresh, non-coated/non-treated vegetables that have been grown conventionally will likely be healthier for you than wilted organic veggies from across the world, coated with plasticizers to keep them looking fresh…

Eight Guidelines for REAL Healthful Food

In your search for healthy food to feed your family, here is what to look for, whether you’re at the grocery store or farmers’ market. Foods that meet these standards will almost always be a wise choice:

  1. Grown without pesticides and chemical fertilizers (organic foods fit this description, but so do some non-organic foods)
  2. Not genetically modified
  3. Contains no added growth hormones, antibiotics, or other drugs
  4. Does not contain artificial anything, nor any preservatives (for fresh produce, you can now add the presence of MAP coatings or ‘edible packaging’)
  5. Fresh (if you have to choose between wilted organic produce or fresh conventional produce, the latter may be the better option)
  6. Did not come from a confined animal feeding operation (CAFO, a.k.a. factory farm)
  7. Grown with the laws of nature in mind (meaning animals are fed their native diets, not a mix of grains and animal byproducts, and have free-range access to the outdoors)
  8. Grown in a sustainable way (using minimal amounts of water, protecting the soil from burnout, and turning animal wastes into natural fertilizers instead of environmental pollutants)

Grow Your Own

Dr. Mercola's own garden

Here is my raised vegetable bed where I have planted two types of kale, collards greens, parsley and a variety of lettuces. Just planted it two weeks ago but should be able to start harvesting very soon. You can see my black composter directly below the second palm on the left. This is where I recycle the pulp from my veggies and other compostable food wastes that would normally go to the landfill.

Starting your own garden is another option. It may sound intimidating, but really all you need is a small plot of land (or several containers), some healthy soil, and the will to do it. Naturally, I encourage you to use only organic gardening methods. Once you get used to it, organic gardening is just as easy as conventional. For instance, you can make a homemade garden spray that will discourage most pests by combining mashed garlic paste with a little cayenne pepper or horseradish. Add a small amount to a gallon jug of water and let it sit for a day or two, shaking it occasionally. Just spray a small amount onto a few leaves first to make sure it’s not so strong that it will burn them.

If you’re not sure where to begin, Better Homes & Gardens has a free All-American Vegetable Garden Plan that can be put into a 6×6 area. It’s a great starting point for beginners. For more tips, the following Web sites offer helpful advice and guidelines for the organic gardener:

Vitamin C…

Posted by: Stef605  /  Category: Health

Vitamin-C is probably the most overlooked and underrated vitamin, the reason for this is quite simple. It’s cheap, very readily available, it works in a multitude of positive ways oh and the biggest reason is that Big Pharma can’t make billions of dollars ripping off innocent people.

Now don’t rush out and buy copious amounts of Vitamin C to throw down your throat, please read this chapter and have a better understanding of how this incredible vitamin can improve your life.

Taking vitamin c orally in large doses will more than likely induce diarrhea, I personally take 10g’s per day, I didn’t just jump up to 10 grams, I started with 1g per day and did that for a few days then gradually increased the dose by 1g every few days until I was taking 10g’s per day.

Dr Thomas Levy who I’ll talk about in more detail recommends taking between 7-15g’s per day, and Dr Huggins says that by taking just 3g’s per day will mean it’s unlikely you will ever have a cold or the flu again.

I’ll start by telling you about this incredible man, Thomas E Levy, MD, JD. Wonderful combination, doctor and lawyer, now I think he has a very good understanding of what he can and can’t say.

A product Dr Levy promotes very strongly is Lypo-Spheric Vit-C; this comes in small 1g packs. You might remember earlier I talked about small doses of Vit-C and how that’s not very effective. Well this comes in a liposomal form, a gel that is absorbed in the small intestine so it has the same effect as 8.25 grams of regular vitamin c. You can get this product which I strongly recommend from Livon Labs..

What Thomas E. Levy, MD, JD, says about Lypo-Spheric™ Vitamin C

“Comparing the bioavail-ability of all other oral vitamin C delivery with your oral liposomal delivery is like comparing a squirt gun to a fire hose. Not only am I convinced that the efficacy of Lypo-Spheric™ Vitamin C far surpasses any traditional oral vitamin C supplement, but my recent personal experience with it suggests that it may sometimes be better than IV injection.”

So what are liposomes, exactly?

Liposomes are belayed (double-layer), liquid-filled bubbles made from phospholipids. Over 50 years ago, researchers discovered that these spheres could be filled with therapeutic agents and used to protect and deliver these agents into the body and even into specific cells of the body.

The belayed structure of liposomes is nearly identical to the belayed construction of the cell membranes that surround each of the cells in the human body. This occurs because of the unique composition of phospholipids. The phosphate (source of “phospho” in phospholipid) head of phospholipids is hydrophilic — it loves water — whereas the fatty-acid tails (lipids) are hydrophobic — they hate water.

Liposome containing vitamin C. Currently liposome-encapsulation   is the best oral way to deliver vitamin C known to man.

When phospholipids find themselves in a water-based solution, the hydrophobic tails quickly move to distance themselves from the liquid just like oil separates from vinegar. So, as all the tails turn inward and all the heads turn toward the liquid, they form a double-layered membrane with all the tails pointing toward one another and the heads facing the outside or the inside of the sphere that they have formed.

Now let’s go back in time to the last century, the 1940’s, Dr. Frederick Klenner, a general practitioner specializing in disease of the chest. A man was brought into the hospital with encephalitis which at that time was another of the incurable diseases.

The hospital basically said “there is nothing we can do for him, put him into the ward, he’ll be dead in two days.

Dr. Klenner suggested that he could help him; you can imagine the response from the other doctors. Anyway Dr. Klenner gave him 5,000 mg of vitamin c intravenously three times each day for three days. On the fourth day he was discharged from hospital and on the fifth day he went back to work.

You are what you eat..

Posted by: Stef605  /  Category: Food, Health

As we all know food is so important in our lives, I believe in the adage “you are what you eat” so making the transition from “fast food” to healthy natural food will pay dividends in the long run.

Life in the western world has changed over the past 30 or 40 years, it was normal for a family to sit down together to eat a meal. Now however it’s normal for families to grab a bite to eat on the run, to jump into the car and stop at the Mc D’s on the way to wherever you are going.

People are always hungry, ever wonder why, it has a lot to do with the nutritionally bereft food you are throwing down your throat. Your body is crying out for nutrition not just bulk, something that fills your stomach then passes through without providing your body, your temple with what it needs to function correctly.

Ignore the so-called experts who are on the payroll of the billion dollar giants when they encourage you to eat their so-called healthy foods, look at the labels….if you are buying a basic food that has 20 added things to it then don’t eat it. When they say “enriched” it means that the goodness that was in it was removed in the processing then they have added more crap to bring it up to a slightly higher level than cardboard.

I can’t emphasize this strongly enough, Sugar is the main problem, when it says on the label that it is healthy because there is no fat or its fat-free. You are meant to think it’s healthy, well no it’s not, your body needs fat, the right kind of fat obviously, but they pile in the sugar to make it tastier.

Just stop and think, how many people to you know that are sick and often sicker now than they were five or ten years ago. We live in the most powerful nation in the world, you’d think this would be at the top or near the top of the healthy league. Well if you look at the World Health Organization’s list of the country’s around the world, the US is in the bottom half of the 175 country’s listed.

There is something wrong with this, this should be a healthy country not one that is driven by the media, sickness insurance and the pharmaceutical giants.

That isn’t a typo, it’s sickness insurance not health insurance.

Think about what is happening..

I think there is more misinformation about cholesterol than anything else, the
average person has been duped and mislead into thinking that cholesterol is
bad, it’s actually a saint not a sinner.

There really isn’t bad cholesterol; yes there are types of cholesterol but not just
two as is often thought.

is high density lipoproteins

is low density lipoproteins

is very low density lipoproteins and they all have a place, they have a valid
reason to be in the body.

The body manufactures around 60% of the cholesterol it needs to function, so you
require the other 40% from foods. As vegetables do not contain cholesterol your
body needs to get it from an animal diet.

Cholesterol is the second biggest natural detoxifier in the body, Albumin being the
biggest. So when you are exposed to toxins either through your diet or some
other avenue the cholesterol sets about neutralizing them.

I suppose that it’s fair to say that cholesterol is guilty by association, if you
did a survey of the accidents in your local city you’d find that every time
there was a vehicle accident, there was also an ambulance present. It would it be fair to suggest that the
ambulance was the common denominator, but unfair to say that the ambulance was
the guilty party when it came to vehicle accidents. No, the ambulance was there
because of the accident and the same applies to cholesterol. As the second
biggest natural detoxifier it rushes in to protect you and eliminate the
toxins, but what happens is the medical profession see you have high
cholesterol in their opinion and give you a statin drug.

The statin artificially lowers your cholesterol and enables the toxins to run riot,
you suffer a heart attack or stroke and the doctor says,” I’m sorry it was just because of your high cholesterol, we prescribed
an anticholestrol medication but the cholesterol was too high and we couldn’t
get it down quick enough”.

This is a load of rubbish, cholesterol is there to help you, God didn’t put us on this planet
to commit suicide, he gave us all we need to survive and thrive, but sadly the
greedy amongst us have provided lots of tasty appealing treats. But those
treats cause problems in our body, so we are told about options that supposedly
help. They don’t help really; they just put a band-aid on the problem.

In the book “Nutrition and Physical Degeneration” written by Dr. Weston A Price, he
found that as the volume of fats in the diet went down , the race degenerated,
he said that the people with the best overall health around the world had about 40% fat in their
diet. He monitored the cholesterol and triglyceride levels for almost twenty
years and found that there is no relationship between the amount of fats in the
diet and the serum level of fats.

Cholesterol makes up approximately 25% of the dry weight of the brain, and at least 23% of
the cell membrane of the red blood cells, without this they wouldn’t be able to
flex and contort and get through the tiny capillaries resulting in local
necrosis , in the brain this is known as a stroke.

I mentioned butter before as an essential ingredient to the diet, Dr. Huggins has
recommended as much as a quarter pound of butter daily. The reason for this is
that the intestinal tract is essentially a giant fat soluble membrane.

Nutrients appear to be absorbed better across a fat soluble membrane when they are in conjunction
with fats. Butter supplies this form of fat. Dr. Huggins noted that when
overweight people change from margarine to butter they tend to lose weight very
easily. The reason for this may be that the body is actually hungry for
nutrients, so as the nutrients are absorbed via the mechanism of fat, the
hunger desire is satisfied more easily. Another point to make here is that fats
are fats and oils are oils, they are similar but not the same.

A very interesting and valid point to also make in regards to margarine, when you
break down margarine into its cellular form you’ll find it is very similar to plastic…

If you place an open tub of margarine in your garden and next to it place an open
tub of butter, then leave them for a week You’ll find all of the butter has
gone but the margarine is still intact. Even insects know its bad and won’t
touch it.

When margarine was originally created it was as a fattening agent for turkeys, the
turkeys wouldn’t’ touch it. The creators had spent millions and millions in
development. When the turkeys ignored this costly fact the manufacturers had to
do something, so they added a coloring agent to make it look more like butter
and sold it for human consumption..

The HDL has a very influential role to play in protection against heart disease
amongst other things; HDL is from the cholesterol fraction of the blood the LDL
from the cholesterol and triglyceride fraction while the VLDL only from the
triglyceride fraction. LDL and VLDL combine in the liver with Bilirubin to
produce bile which is essential in metabolizing foods. When this isn’t done correctly,
food is not synthesized or absorbed correctly, resulting in gallstones in the
liver and gallbladder.

Andreas Moritz PhD explains how gallstones are formed in the liver and gallbladder in
his book listed below. I found it to be a very interesting book and was totally
amazed to discover the prevalence of liver and gallbladder problems in America
today. I had heard about people having an operation to have gallstones removed.
I really had no idea that most people have gallstones but aren’t aware of the problems
yet. Moritz talks about not just having a gall stone or ten or twenty gallstones
but how some people can have as many as 20,000 gallstones. Yes you read that
correctly, 20,000 gallstones.

He details in his book how gallstones are formed and more importantly goes into
great detail on how to remove them, without an operation.

How this can be done from home relatively
painlessly over a six-day period, this is a great book to read, I bought my
copy as an e-book from Barnes and Noble for $9.95.

Back to cholesterol, statistically there are far more problems with having low
cholesterol than high cholesterol, more people suffer from stroke when their
cholesterol is below 160 mg% and more people die of cancer when their
cholesterol is below 150 mg%.

Studies have shown other significant problems such as depression and leading to
suicide. There are many cases of vandalism and hooliganism, fighting and bad
behavior due to low cholesterol.

Two very well-respected medical professionals on this subject are Thomas E Levy,
MD, JD and Hal Huggins, MS, DDS, their work differs slightly in the correct
level but both show proof that it should be higher than your traditional doctor
is recommending in keeping your cholesterol below 175 mg%.

Huggins’grand mentor was Melvin Page DDS who suggests a level of 221 mg% while Levy
talks about 240-250 mg%.

When I met Dr. Huggins in 2007 I had a blood test for the Huggins recovery program
and was shocked to find my cholesterol was at 274 mg%. Doc suggested that I eat
more eggs and butter to remedy that problem.

You can imagine the shocked look on my face at hearing this; however I followed his
advice and ate 2 eggs and large amounts of butter each day. Two weeks later I
had another blood test and was very pleasantly surprised to see my cholesterol
was down to 238 mg%. Yes that happened in only two weeks, you have probably
heard from your doctor that when your cholesterol is high you’ll have to go on
a statin drug and probably be on that medication for life.

One of my first questions to Dr. Huggins was “how do you raise your cholesterol if
it’s too low, he replied with “eat two eggs per day and a quarter pound of
butter” I then asked “how do you lower it if it’s too high” when he told me the
same thing “eat two eggs and a quarter pound of butter” I was a little shocked
to say the least.

Your body will find the natural, healthy level for cholesterol.
